Shirley Jean (Harlan) McCarthy passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 23. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Fredrick Kenny McCarthy, children Mary (John) Kondrath, Margaret (Paul) Lang, Michael (Christina) McCarthy, Terrence (Robin) Lyon-McCarthy, Sharon (John) Brandon, Christopher (Mary) McCarthy, and eight grandchildren.
She was a loving stay-at-home mother and wife with the family and husband who were her primary interest in life. At the same time, she was a real “people person” who was happy living the command of her Lord to love Him and her neighbors – always ready to commune with either Him or them. She will be missed by many.
The family suggest that, in lieu of flowers, any contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of choice in her name.
Funeral services will be held at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church, with visitation at 10 a.m. and Mass at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29th. The church is located at 8155 Oaklandon Road.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Shirley. The passing away of a loved one is always with much sorrow. May we have faith and confidence in the Bible’s promise of a time when pain, sickness and death are a thing of the past (Revelation 21:3, 4). My condolences are with the family at this difficult time.
